Fencing Sports Academy, Intl offers Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes, as well as individual private lessons. Classes are held at the Club, which is located at our brand new facility Now Open at 7031 Crider Road Mars, PA 16046. Our state of the art facility will feature the latest in fencing equipment for class instruction, training, and competition.
The Beginner classes and Camps include warm-up exercises and stretching, basic footwork and blade work exercises, and basic tactics and strategies. Students also are presented with the history of fencing, and how the sport has progressed over time. Fencers also learn the rules of Modern Olympic Fencing, including a review of each of the weapons. The format involves group instruction, individual attention, drills, games, and supervised one-on-one bouts between students.
Intermediate Practices are generally attended by fencers who have completed the Beginner Classes and/or Camps. Intermediate classes are designed to strengthen and improve the skills learned in Beginner Classes or Camps. An emphasis is also placed on learning strategies and techniques for succeeding in competition. More bouting opportunities are available as a means to apply learned techniques in a competition setting.
Fencers who are enjoying their new skills, and want to become successful competitors, usually participate in Advanced practices, where they may practice using their actions against other accomplished athletes. Most Advanced fencers are taking private lessons, and are participating in local, regional, and National competitions. Bouting on state-of-the art electric strips is essential, and advanced footwork and bladework drills are employed. Advanced fencers are encouraged to attend conditioning classes that enable the best use of their skills and improve competitive results.
